Piano Lessons in Beaverton & Portland — Book a Free Trial

Suzuki method piano instruction for kids and adults. Certified through all 7 levels. In-studio, at your home, or online.

Why Suzuki Piano Lessons?

The Suzuki method teaches piano the way children learn language: through listening, imitation, and encouragement. Your child develops a deep connection to music before ever reading a note, building ear training, technique, and confidence from the very first lesson.

At Beaverton Piano & Strings, lessons are taught by Alishan Merjanian, one of the few piano teachers in the Portland area certified through all 7 levels of Suzuki piano instruction by the Suzuki Association of the Americas. This means your child can progress from their very first lesson through advanced repertoire with the same trusted teacher.

Piano Lesson FAQ

What age can my child start piano lessons?
Children can begin Suzuki piano lessons as early as age 3-4. We assess each child individually during the free trial to determine readiness. It's never too early to start the listening component at home.
Do we need a piano at home?
Yes, students need access to a piano or quality digital piano for daily practice. During your trial lesson, we can discuss appropriate instruments for your child's age and level, including affordable options.
Do parents attend piano lessons?
Yes, parent involvement is a cornerstone of the Suzuki method. You attend each lesson, take notes, and guide your child's daily practice at home. No musical background is required.
How long until my child can play songs?
Most students play their first recognizable pieces within the first month. The Suzuki method starts with simple, beautiful melodies that build technique naturally. Progress depends on consistent daily practice.
Do you teach adults?
Yes. While the Suzuki method was designed for young children, adults are welcome and benefit from the same ear-first approach. Lessons are adapted to adult learning styles and goals.
